Are Medical Assistant Jobs Cheap Labor?

Another reason why the medical assistant industry may be booming is because of the current economy. It may be surprising to you as unemployment rates are increasing to scary numbers and businesses are laying off workers left and right to cut costs.

But this is exactly my point, businesses want to cut costs! So what does this mean if you are looking for medical assistant jobs? It means that medical assistants are now being given more responsibility.

This is because it is cheaper to pay a medical assistant than it is to pay a physician. These tasks may include drawing blood or performing xrays. This is all good news for medical assisting field!

Medical Assistant Jobs in the Diverse Health Industry

The second reason I mentioned why there is an increase in available medical assistant positions is because of the diversity of the industry.

There are hundreds of health care specialists such as pediatricians, optometrists, surgeons, weight loss specialists, etc.

There are also many types of organizations that require health care such as schools, universities, hospitals, governments etc.

As you can see, the business of health and wellness is gigantic – and each health industry niche (no matter how small) has a specific need for medical assistants in their office.

So if you are looking for a medical assistant job, you can look for a position in a specific area that interests you. There are a lot of opportunity for medical assistants!
I mentioned in my previous articles reasons why the medical assisting field is growing. One of the reasons is because the entire health and wellness industry is booming.

Baby boomers are aging and retiring. Since they make up almost a third of our total population, it makes sense that baby boomers have a profound impact on our economy.

We all know that when people age their medical needs increase. So it is safe to assume that when a third of our US population reaches an age of requiring medical attention at the same time, there will be an increase in demand for medical assistant jobs now.

Demand for Medical Assisting Jobs

The medical assistant career field is booming, despite the current economic climate. If you have found yourself recently unemployed, you may want to consider getting a medical assistant job.

The field is growing for 3 main reasons. First of all, baby boomers are aging and with an increase in age comes an increase in medical needs.

Secondly, the medical field is very diverse so there are an unlimited number of niches in the market.

Lastly, it is cheaper for a company to pay a medical assistant to do a task than it is to pay a doctor or a nurse.
